1 What 三會 is, and why it is about feelings
Branches have three main ways of gathering together: the pairwise 六合 (liù hé, Six Harmony), the triple element union 三合 (sān hé, Three Harmony) and the triple seasonal gathering 三會. The last is considered the most solid: branches that follow one another around the circle make up a season, and 巳午未 is summer. The element of the season is powerful there, and in such charts people speak of the "direction" of fire.

The Snake has three "sharp" months in 2027: February to early March (a 害 and a 刑 with the Tiger), June (the gathering) and November (a 冲 with the Pig). The rest moves more evenly. I will single out August: 巳申 is at once a 六合, a 刑 and a 破. This kind of link is called double-edged: closeness arises together with obligations and tension.
The tail of the year is not as cloudless as the table row suggests. December 壬子 is not linked with the Snake, but makes a 子未害 with the year branch, and January 癸丑, with its mild half-union 巳丑, brings a 丑未冲 clash with the year. May 乙巳 looks quiet in the table, but it has a role of its own.
