If you had to pick the "gentlest" pair among the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac, the Horse and the Goat would be named most often. Fire generates Earth, and the stems are shared

Let us look at the elements. The Horse 午 is Fire and the Goat 未 is Earth. In the generating cycle Fire gives birth to Earth. The Horse is the one who gives energy, ideas and impulse; the Goat is the one who receives, gives form and makes things lasting. In life this usually looks like a natural division of labor: one ignites and the other holds.

It is curious that the hidden stems of the two branches have shared participants. 午 hides 丁 and 己, and 未 hides 己, 丁 and 乙. So both stems, 丁 (Yin Fire) and 己 (Yin Earth), are present in both.
