Tigers tend to expect drama from a year. If there is a relationship, it should come with thunder; if there is a break, it should end with a slammed door. The year 丁未 (dīng wèi) promises no such theatre. The branch 寅 (yín) has no 六合 (liù hé, Six Harmony), no 冲 (chōng, clash), no 害 (hài, harm) and no 刑 (xíng, punishment) with the branch 未 (wèi). It is the classic "neutral pair", and people often conclude from this that nothing will happen in a Tiger's private life. That conclusion is premature.
The link between two animal signs is only one layer of a forecast. In 2027 other layers work harder for the Tiger: the star 天喜 (tiān xǐ, Heavenly Happiness) sits directly in the year's branch, the months with classical links are spread unevenly across the calendar, and the year's stem 丁 touches the partner star differently for each Day Master. In BaZi you are a Tiger if you were born between 立春 (lì chūn, Start of Spring, around February 4) of one year and the same point of the next: 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010. People born in January of those years still belong to the previous sign. And what actually happens in your love life is decided by the day of birth, the hour and the position of the branches in the whole chart.
1 What the year 丁未 does to the Tiger in matters of the heart
By element the Tiger is Wood (the main hidden stem of 寅 is 甲, Yang Wood, with 丙 and 戊 alongside). The year brings Yin Fire 丁 in the stem and dry Earth 未 in the branch. Wood produces Fire (木生火, mù shēng huǒ), so the Tiger's living energy readily flows into words, attention, care and open displays of feeling. 2 天喜: the joy that sits in the year's branch
Every sign has a pair of "marriage-circle stars": 紅鸞 (hóng luán, the Red Phoenix) and 天喜 (tiān xǐ, Heavenly Happiness). Both are counted from the branch of the birth year. If the chart has no groundwork (there is no partner, or the spouse palace is closed off by heavy interactions), "heavenly happiness" turns into an invitation to someone else's wedding or to a celebration in a friend's family. Pleasant too, though not what you were hoping for.
The second nuance is that 未 gives 天喜 not for a single day but for the whole year, and inside the year the most "audible" stretch is the 未 month itself, roughly July 7 to August 7, 2027. If you have a reason for an important conversation, for meeting a partner's parents or for a trip together, summer suits it better than other periods.
The third nuance is that 天喜 does not guarantee that the happy event will be yours. Practitioners often read it as "joy in your surroundings". Here is how to read it. If a man's Day Master is 壬, the year literally puts Direct Wealth on his table: in the stem, in plain sight. If it is 甲, the same Direct Wealth arrives in hidden form (through the 己 inside 未), so the event is felt later and more quietly. For a woman with Day Master 庚 the husband star is in plain sight (丁 as Direct Officer), while for a woman with 壬 it hides inside 未. If your Day Master is not among the cases that look obvious, that does not mean "no love will come". It means the sphere opens not through a partner star but through your own qualities: in the 丙 row that is rivalry, in the 己 row it is reserve.

Suppose a Tiger has the Ox in the day. Then a year that is neutral at the level of the sign stops being neutral: 丑未冲 (chǒu-wèi chōng, the Ox–Goat clash) hits exactly the palace. What follows from this. March and April are when the 桃花 (táo huā, Peach Blossom, the charm star) for the Tiger stands in the month itself, and they are the easiest window for meeting people. One clarification about October. 寅 and 戌 are the outer branches of the Fire trio 寅午戌, but without the middle branch 午 this is not a full 半合 (bàn hé, half combination). It is a 拱合 (gǒng hé, arching combination), "an embrace around an empty centre". The link is softer than the one in June. If you are single. The year will not deliver love by post, but it works well through your surroundings: shared projects, courses, friends of friends. March to April and June to July are better for meeting people.
