They say good couples are not discussed. The Rabbit and the Pig are exactly of that kind: at a party they somehow end up in the same group, within an hour they are laughing at shared stories, and half a year later it turns out they have never quarrelled. On paper the picture is ideal. The Rabbit's Wood receives nourishment from the Pig's Water, and both branches belong to the Three Harmony 亥卯未. We will look at what this union consists of, what is good about it, and where the catch lies that few people mention.

Everything said about birth-year signs refers to the top layer: one branch out of the four pillars of each partner. Further on we go through love, friendship, work and conflicts, and look separately at 2027, because it does something unusual for this pair.

1 The Wood Three Harmony and its two "corner" branches

A Three Harmony, 三合 (sān hé), gathers three branches, placed four positions apart on the circle, into one element. For Wood these are 亥, 卯, 未. The classics describe them as three phases in the life of one plant: 亥 (hài, the Pig) is the beginning, the seed underground; 卯 (mǎo, the Rabbit) is the peak of growth and blossom; 未 (wèi, the Goat) is the fruit and the storehouse.

The central branch, 卯, is the chief one: it sets the element. The other two support it. A union 亥卯 (without 未) belongs to the "half-triads," 半三合 (bàn sān hé), and in the classics it is considered rather strong: the centre is present, and it receives nourishment from a neighbour. A pair without the centre, that is 亥未, works noticeably weaker, because the union loses its axis. We have exactly the strong variant: the Rabbit is in place, and the Pig stands beside it.

Now look at the contents. 亥 holds two hidden stems: 壬 (rén, Yang Water, a great river) and 甲 (jiǎ, Yang Wood, a tall tree). The Pig is a Water branch with wood inside, "water getting ready to give a shoot." 卯 holds one stem, 乙 (yǐ, the vine). The Pig's Water directly feeds the Rabbit's Wood (水生木, shuǐ shēng mù), and the 甲 inside the Pig is the "elder brother" of the vine 乙. They are related by element and support each other on several levels at once. More on each branch in the articles on the Rabbit and the Pig.

2 Love and marriage: mutual warmth

In love the Rabbit and the Pig behave like close friends who have finally realised they love each other. No stormy scenes, no "hunt": first comes a conversation, then a habit, then a shared space. The Pig is generous, open, able to enjoy life. The Rabbit is refined, attentive, fond of beauty. Together they create a warm home in which it is customary to cook, host guests, discuss films and make plans.

The distribution of roles is usually natural. The Pig "feeds" the Rabbit: with emotional support, readiness to help, sometimes with resources. The Rabbit "grows" on this nourishment: develops, creates, finds its own meanings. This scheme works as long as both sides feel they receive and give equally. If the Pig invests for years and the Rabbit takes it for granted, an imbalance arises, and the Pig, being kind, stays silent until the last.

For marriage this union is considered favourable. But the classics look at the Spouse Palaces in the day pillars, not at the annual branches. If the day branches also hold a union or are neutral, durability is higher. How to check this is described in the step-by-step guide and also in the article on marriage in BaZi.

3 The pitfall: when there is no friction at all

The most interesting thing in this pair begins when everything is good. The paradox of such unions is that an absence of conflict looks like an absence of problems, but in fact it is an absence of feedback. The Rabbit does not say what irritates it, because "why spoil the mood." The Pig does not insist on its own, because "peace matters more to it." Years pass like this. Then it suddenly turns out that one wanted to move, the other to change jobs, and both were silent for the sake of the other's calm.

This scenario is well described in the language of elements. In such a pair there is a great deal of Wood and Water, and little structure (Earth) and little fire of resolve. Wood disperses, Water spreads. The pair lives beautifully but without load-bearing structures: a budget, a schedule, obligations. The sooner you introduce simple frames, the stronger the union becomes.

4 Friendship and family

A Rabbit and a Pig as friends easily become "their own family." They share news, cook, travel together, support each other in hard moments. The Pig can comfort without moralising, the Rabbit can listen. Their friendship rarely breaks, unless one decides that the other does not value the effort enough.

In family roles (a Pig mother and a Rabbit child, or the other way round) the picture is warm but carries one risk: over-protection. A Pig parent tends to do everything for the child, a Rabbit parent tends to shield the child from hard topics. The child grows up affectionate and unprepared for conflict. Here it helps to leave deliberate room for small difficulties that the child solves alone.

5 Work and business: creativity, service, education

In business the pair suits fields where relationships and taste matter: education, creative studios, service, care, consulting. The Pig brings resources and generosity, the Rabbit brings taste and diplomacy. Together they create an environment to which people want to return.

The weak spot is financial discipline and hard decisions. Both tend to postpone the unpleasant: dismissing someone, raising a price, refusing a client. If you are building a business together, set up outside control in advance: an accountant, a mentor, a partner who is not afraid to say "no." And do not forget to fix shares and roles in writing. Additionally you can use the business opening date selection based on both charts.

6 2027: when the year completes the circle

The year 丁未 (dīng-wèi), the Fire Goat, begins at Lì Chūn (立春) around 4 February 2027. Its annual branch 未 is the Tai Sui (太歲), and it is precisely the third branch of the Three Harmony 亥卯未. For the Rabbit + Pig pair the missing branch arrives from the calendar: for the duration of the year the circle closes.

In the classics such situations are described as "receiving a union from outside." This does not mean that everything will succeed in 2027. It means that the common theme of Wood (growth, flexibility, creativity, softness) receives reinforcement. Couples in such periods often feel a lift, show initiative, and build plans they have long talked about. The most important thing is to use this window for real steps, not for daydreaming. Because a Wood union strengthens growth both in the good sense (ideas) and in the scattered sense (ten started things instead of two finished).

7 How to use 2027: three steps

A closed circle of Wood is like a tailwind. It helps if you have a heading. Without a heading, the wind simply carries you off. So for the Rabbit + Pig pair three simple steps are useful in 2027.

  1. Choose one main direction. Not five, but one: a move, a joint project, studies, a child, a renovation. The strengthened Wood theme likes to spread, and without a choice it turns into scatter.
  2. Set deadlines. For any shared plan put a month by which you want to see a result. It is better to aim at the months of the favourable triad, 癸卯 (March to early April) and 辛亥 (November to early December), but without fanaticism: the calendar suggests, it does not dictate.
  3. Leave room for a pause. In the months 乙巳 and 己酉 reserve time without big decisions: in those weeks the Pig's or the Rabbit's nervous reactivity is raised, and trifles seem larger.

Note that a Three Harmony by itself promises neither luck nor money. It describes a direction and the ease of movement. What gets done in that direction is determined by your decisions and by the other links in the charts. If a person's chart already holds strong conflicts, a year with a union will help soften them but will not cancel them.

8 A hypothetical example: a pair that gets along too well

Imagine a fictional pair: Claire (Rabbit) and Noah (Pig). They have been together four years and have never seriously quarrelled. Acquaintances regard them as a model. In one conversation Claire admits: "I don't remember when we last discussed anything really important." It turns out that Noah has long wanted to change his field but does not say so, so as not to frighten Claire. Claire, for her part, dreams of moving to another city and is silent, afraid to hurt Noah.

When they finally talked, it turned out that both were ready for change. Each had simply been carefully waiting for the other to suggest it. They wrote out three scenarios, chose one and set a term: next spring. In BaZi terms this is a typical story of a Wood union: there is enough energy, but the direction has to be set consciously, otherwise it hangs in the air.

Such stories show that harmony of signs does not free anyone from effort. It eases the road, but you still have to walk it yourselves. And the better the pair gets at talking about the uncomfortable, the more fully its union's potential unfolds.

9 Why the birth-year sign does not say everything

The Rabbit + Pig pair, like any other, is defined not only by annual branches. Each partner has a Day Master 日主 (rì zhǔ), and it is the Day Master that shapes the nature of the person. A Pig with the Day Master 庚 (gēng) may turn out more businesslike than many Rabbits, and a Rabbit with the Day Master 壬 gently "flows" like water.

The professional check goes through five layers: the Day Masters relative to each other, the Spouse Palaces (day branches), elemental balance and useful gods, relationship stars, and the synchronicity of the Luck Pillars 大運 (dà yùn). The result is not a compatibility percentage but a map of the pair: supports, thin places, the best and the hard years. If you see that by signs you are an ideal union but life does not come together, the answer is almost always in these layers. And conversely: pairs not promised by signs sometimes last for decades because their charts complement each other well.

10 Frequently asked questions

Are the Rabbit and the Pig the most harmonious pair?

By birth-year sign it is among the softest: the branches 亥 and 卯 belong to the Three Harmony 亥卯未, and Water feeds Wood. But "soft" does not mean "without problems." An absence of friction can turn into stagnation, and an absence of arguments into accumulated unspoken things.

What does an "incomplete triad" mean for a pair?

A Three Harmony works fully when all three branches are present: 亥, 卯, 未. If two are present, the link remains, but the energy of Wood does not close into a circle. The missing branch may be brought by the year, a month, a Luck Pillar 大運 or the chart of one of the partners.

What happens in 2027?

The year 丁未 brings the branch 未, and for your pair the circle 亥卯未 closes temporarily. In practice this often means a period of shared plans, creative rise, the feeling that "everything finally fits together." The effect acts as the weather of the year, not as fate, and depends on the other links in the charts.

Does this pair have weak spots?

It does. Both signs try to avoid conflict, so problems accumulate. An excess of the Wood element can lead to scatter and ease in decisions. Usually the pair needs a person or a circumstance that "grounds" it and sets a structure.

Is such a pair suitable for a joint business?

Often yes, especially in creative, educational and service fields. You only need to introduce firm frames: deadlines, roles, financial records. Additionally practitioners look at launch dates by the charts of both partners.
