The reason is that wealth in the system isn't abstract luck — it's a specific element: the one your Day Master 日主 (rì zhǔ — "lord of the day") controls. The year 丁未 (dīng wèi — "the Fire Goat") brings Fire 丁 and Earth 未 to the table — and the only question is what these elements mean for you specifically: money, work, support, or a burden.
1 How the year "hands out" money: the mechanics
The wealth star 財星 (cái xīng — "wealth star") is the element your Day Master controls along the overcoming cycle: Wood controls Earth, Earth controls Water, Water controls Fire, Fire controls Metal, Metal controls Wood. When the year brings your wealth element, money opportunities become noticeably more plentiful — the only question is whether the chart has the strength to take them: a weak Day Master "breaks" under a load of wealth (the classic formula 財多身弱, cái duō shēn ruò — "wealth is abundant, the body is weak").

3 The year's strong and delicate spots
The first half of the year (February–June) runs on rising Fire: the peak of "Water money" and "Wood ideas." This is a time for launches, negotiations and sales for those the year favors.
July is the Goat's own month: the year branch doubles up — 伏吟 (fú yín — "repeat"), doubled Earth, stickiness; if you have the Ox 丑 or the Dog 戌 in your chart, the punishment 丑戌未 intensifies. It's better to push big deals and investments to another month.
Autumn (September–October) strengthens Metal: pressure for Wood (Metal is its Power/Officer 官殺 — money goes toward obligations), but a good time to collect debts and get your finances in order.
November–December — Water rises: "Water" Day Masters feel relief, while pressure grows for Fire — not a time for risky leverage.
